Executive Assistant & Operations Coordinator (Part-Time, Contract)

Location: Jackson, MS

Compensation: $17/hour, 20 hours/week, Contract (Potential to grow into full-time)

Reports To: Co-Presidents

Organization: John & Vera Mae Perkins Foundation

A Role for the Right Season

The John & Vera Mae Perkins Foundation is entering a new chapter.

Our legacy remains—but the systems that carried us before must now evolve.

We’re seeking a purpose-driven, detail-oriented professional to support our Co-Presidents and leadership team during a season of meaningful organizational transition. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in early-stage structure-building, who brings calm and clarity to fast-moving environments, and who feels energized by the opportunity to contribute to something bigger than themselves.

This is a contract role, starting part-time—with room to grow as we move toward long-term operational alignment. While the compensation is modest, the impact is significant.

You’ll be at the intersection of vision and execution, helping shape the internal rhythm of a mission that spans generations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Co-Presidents: scheduling, meeting prep, follow-up

  • Create and maintain systems for tracking tasks, files, internal communication, and priorities

  • Serve as a reliable point of contact between leadership, staff, and external partners

  • Coordinate logistics for board meetings, events, and programs as needed

  • Help ensure clarity and follow-through in a fast-paced and often fluid work environment

  • Support foundational infrastructure as the organization grows into its next phase

  • Bring a spirit of excellence, grace, and trust to all internal operations

What We’re Looking For

  • Mission-Aligned: You’re energized by faith-rooted justice and community transformation

  • Highly Organized: You thrive on bringing order to complexity and creating systems that last

  • Solutions-Oriented: You bring initiative and clarity, even when direction is still evolving

  • Gracefully Assertive: You can manage up, follow through, and communicate expectations with kindness

  • Trustworthy & Discreet: You handle sensitive information and leadership dynamics with wisdom

  • Collaborative: You’re a team player who contributes to culture as much as logistics

Preferred Experience

  • 2+ years in administrative, office management, or nonprofit operations roles

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, scheduling platforms, and digital organization tools

  • Prior experience in a nonprofit, faith-based, or mission-driven setting

  • Clear written and verbal communication

  • A teachable spirit and genuine care for people
